Want your dream lifestyle? Work backwards.
I know you’re stressed. You have too much on your plate, and what you really want is more free time in your life where you can focus on you, relax, and just enjoy life.
It feels like getting it is impossible, but it’s not - you just have to actively choose what lifestyle you want to lead, then make your responsibilities fit within it.
Sounds like an unattainable fantasy, right?
False - I’ve been doing it since I was about 15.
Everyone can remember their first all nighter...except me, because I’ve never done one. (And trust me, it's not because I don’t procrastinate.)
I’ve just always been clear on a few things:
My body needs a good night of sleep.
I don’t work or think well after a certain time of day.
If I know my nightly “deadline”, I’ll just work within the hours that I’m awake, and that’ll have to be enough.
Since I know that working at night isn’t an option for me, I work smarter and harder during the day.
You can do the same thing right now.
Think about your responsibilities right now.
Ask yourself: In your ideal world, how much free time would you have? How much time would you spend exercising, socializing, taking walks in nature, etc.? What would your ideal day or week look like?
Get ruthless with your responsibilities right now. What could you cut or scale back to make this lifestyle a reality?
Notice what comes up for you around cutting back on some of your responsibilities in your life. Are you scared? Nervous? Convinced you absolutely can’t lose anything in your schedule? Are you holding onto control of something? Make sure you’re being real with yourself - and operating from a place a truth.
I want you to know that your lifestyle is 100% your choice. You can choose to be busy and stressed, or you can choose to get a little uncomfortable in the short term so that you can have the lifestyle you want in the long term.
